About our Kiwanis Club
Founded in 1977, Bangor Breakfast Kiwanis is one of four Kiwanis Clubs in the greater Bangor area. We are very active in our community, combining Kiwanis fellowship at our weekly Thursday morning breakfast meetings with active participation in goodwill projects and charity fundraising activities throughout the year.
In keeping with the mission of Kiwanis International, our Club is dedicated to helping those less fortunate, particularly children. We support projects for underprivileged kids and their families, raising funds and working with many of local agencies to help area youth.
Perhaps the largest Community Service event of the year for area Kiwanis Clubs, including Bangor Breakfast, is the sponsorship and organization of the Bangor Independence Day events, including the annual Kiwanis 4th of July Parade and Fireworks show (which promises to be Maine’s largest and best in 2012).
Our Club actively sponsors two youth levels of the Kiwanis Family, including a Key Club at Hermon High School, and a Builders Club at Hermon Middle School.
Membership in our Club offers much:
- An opportunity for you to share your experience, your knowledge, and your time in serving our community.
- An opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of your business or profession once a week and relax and have fun with friends.
- An opportunity to get “expert advice” from fellow members, who represent a large spectrum of business and professions.
